Special ACB court rejects application of S D Karnik accused in MPSC
Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) A special ACB court today rejected the application of Dr S D Karnik, accused in Multi-crore MPSC examination scam of 1999, praying to allow him to go to Sharjah for a Knee surgery.
Additional Session Court Judge D B Pujari said, in his brief order, the applicant had submited old medical reports advising to go for knee surgery alongwith the application. There is no substantial grounds mentioned in the application to allow him to go to Sharjah for treatment.
Earlier, in the year 2005 and 2006, similar applications were rejected by another special court Judge P N Deshmukh.
Dr Karnik, former Chairman of MPSC was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for his alleged involvement in multi-crore MPSC scam in the year 1999.
The Investigating agency has arrested 27 accused persons for their alleged involvement in the scam. All accused are currently on bail.
