Savitha Goud bags Essel Best Sportsperson Award

Bangalore, Feb 22 (UNI) Ace Cyclist and National Champion Savitha Goud, has bagged the 'Essel Karnataka's Best Sportsperson' award instituted by the Essel Group.

Presenting the award at a glittering ceremony here today, Mr Subhash Chandra, Chairman of the Essel Group and Zee Network, said good response received over the initiation of Best Karnataka Legislator Award had led to the group extend the profile to other fields.

He said the Essel group had planned to honour the best personalities at the national level in different fields as well.

"Every human being carried three distinct characters like mind, body and intellect. One's dedicated effort to combine all these qualities make the man different and distinctive," he said.

Others who had entered the last round, which included Arvind Savur (Cue Sports), Madiah (Golf), Malathi Holla (Wheelchair Athlete) and Pankaj Advani (Billiards and Snooker) were also honoured. Senior sportspersons including Ashwini Nachappa (Athletics) Ahmed Khan (Football) and T R Swamy (Wrestling) also received trophies.

On this occasion Mr Chandra also handed over a cheque for Rs 3.95 crore to J Ananda, who had won the Playwin's Thunder Ball Jackpot.
