RBI issues notices regarding complaints of counterfeit notes

Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today issued a public notice cautioning the people about the issuance of counterfeit notes through ATMs.

Issuing the notice here today following the receipt of several complaints in this regard, the RBI made it clear that "in no circumstances counterfeit banknotes get dispensed through ATMs or across the exchange counters".

Moreover, senior RBI sources said, for further information and guidance the regional offices of the Bank could be approached.

Members of general public might also check the bank notes for their genuinness" and should be more alert against the use of counterfeit notes.

The features of banknotes issued by RBI were also available on the RBI website-www.rbi.org.in-,they said.
