Process of desealing of notified road shops to begin soon:MCD
New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) MCD Commissioner A K Nigam today said the process for deasealing the commercial establishments on notified roads that had been sealed prior to the notification of the 2021 Master Plan of Delhi would begin soon.
In a statement at a meeting of the Standing committee of the MCD, Mr Nigam said the owners of shops situated on roads notified for mixed land use in the September 15 notification by the Delhi Government would be asked to send their request for desealing to the DCs of their respective zones.
The request would be forwarded to the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring committee on sealing who would make a final decision on the matter.
Mr Nigam said as per the order of the Supreme Court, there would be no sealing action, till April 10, by the MCD on roads notified as 'mixed use' or 'commercial roads.' On a query from BJP councillor Vijender Gupta on the issue of desealing of shops located on non-notified roads, Mr Nigam said any decision on the same would only be taken after the final decision of the court in the matter.
Talking to reporters later, Mr Gupta said,''As many as 5500 shops on non-notified roads were sealed in the three months prior to notification of MPD 2021. Despite an assurance by the Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy that the notification on roads other than the 2183 already notified would be done within 48 hours, it has not been done till now. And now, the commissioner has also categorically refused to open seals of these shops.'' UNI AR SAM HT1927
