Kar Govt prepares a proposal to lay 364 km road on outskirts
Bangalore, Feb 22 (UNI) A proposal to lay an eight lane 364 kilometre road linking seven taluk centres involving an investment of Rs 5347 crores was ready and will be cleared in the next cabinet meeting, Public Works Minister H D Revanna said today.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said the survey work with regard to the project had been completed already and a proposal to acquire 8600 acres of land had been prepared. The Satellite Town Ring Road project would be implemented in five years in four packages. Since the project came under the Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority and PWD jurisdictions, both the agencies would be involved in the project to be taken up on DBOOT basis. Of the total length, 82 km came under the National Highway, he explained.
He said the state would also approach the centre for viability gap fund and infrastructural fund. Feasibility study would be taken up soon, he added.
He said the government would also take up Intermediary Ring Road covering a length of 150 km and a detailed project report would be prepared within five months. The state government had already sent a proposal to the National Highways Authority of India in this regard, he added saying that the state and the centre would contribute 20 per cent each and the private participation would be 60 per cent.
He said a 26 km new eight lane express way road to link the upcoming international airport near Devanahalli would also be taken up involving an investment of Rs 450 crores.
