HC seeks report on illegal use of beacon lights

Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today summoned Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) on March one next in the case of illegal use of beacon lights in Uttar Pradesh.

Taking cognisance of a news item published on February 20, 2007, a bench comprising Justices Devi Prasad Singh and J M Paliwal passed this order.

The HC has sought details of progress pursuant to its earlier order in the case.

The ADG has also been asked for submission with regard to the number of vehicles seized and penal action initiated against the offenders after the order.

On a PIL filed by Sudarsh Awasthi, the court had ordered for action against plying of vehicles illegally using red or blue beacon lights.
