HC reserves order on appeal for Feb 23
Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Madras High Court today reserved orders for tomorrow, on the appeals filed by DMDK founder leader and actor Vijayakant, his wife and others, against an order of a single judge, dismissing their petitions, challenging the acquisition of lands and a marriage hall owned by them by the Union Government to construct a grade separator in Koyambedu.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Mr Justice K Chandru reserved orders for tomorrow, after hearing elaborate arguments from senior counsel T V Ramanujam for the appellants and Assistant Solicitor General P Wilson for the Union Government.
Holding that there was no mala fide intention on the part of the Union Government in ordering acquisition of lands and marriage hall belonging to Vijayakant and his wife Premalatha, Mr Justice V Ramasubramanian had on February 12, dismissed their petitions.
Challenging this order, the present appeals were filed.
