Barrackpore, Feb 22: The father of a 21-year-old student of Bangalore-based Vydehi Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre, has claimed that his son died in ''mysterious circumstances'' and demanded another post-mortem on his body.

Mr Sukumar Dutta of Palta Sreepalli in North 24 Parganas, father of Satyabrata Dutta, lodged a complaint with the local police yesterday in this regard. He has urged the Sub-Divisional Officer of Barrackpore to conduct another post-mortem on the body of his son to ascertain the ''real'' cause behind his death.

The body of the 21-year-old student will reach here today.

The Bangalore police and the Institute authorities had informed Mr Dutta on February 20 about the death of his son saying that he was found hanging in his hostel room. But later he was told that the body was found in the corridor of the hostel, which made him suspicious, Mr Dutta told reporters here.

Mr Dutta also informed that his son was involved in a clash with the security personnel of the institute ten days back.

SDO, Barrackpore, Jyotishman Chattopadhyay, when contacted said the district police authority might refer to city's NRS Medical college and hospital for another post-mortem of the body.
