E-sys Tech to set up two PC plants, invest Rs 250cr in HP
Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) ESys Information Technologies Ltd, a subisdiary of Teledata Informatics Ltd, will set up two PC manufacturing plants at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh and Chennai in Tamil Nadu to produce low-cost PCs for Indian market.
Addressing a press conference here today, ESys Chief Operating Officer Neeraj Chauhan said, ''The two proposed plants will together manufacture around 17 lakh Personal Computers(PC). The Baddi unit will be operational this year.'' Around Rs 250 crore would be invested in the Baddi plant as working capital and for equipment. The capacity of the plant would be 12 lakh units per annum. The fund would be totally from the internal accrual of E-Sys and Teledata, he added.
E-Sys plans to capture at least 5 per cent of the Indian market, Mr Chauhan said adding the PC manufactured in the Himachal Pradesh plant would be low-cost, starting from Rs 9,000.
E-Sys has three PC manufacturing units across the world in US, UAE and Singapore which manufacture computers for both branded and unorganised markets. In India, apart from the proposed two plants, there is a plant in Delhi.
Teledata informatics has recently acquired 51 per cent stake of E-Sys. It is an IT major and has marine, e-education and telecom businesses as well.
Revenue of Teledata is 2005-06 was Rs 1050.68 crore and the net profit was Rs 149.0 crore compared to Rs 338.83 crore and Rs 87.83 crore in the corresponding period last year.
