Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged that despite the announcement of election dates in the state, the Congress was still trying to impose President's Rule.

''My fault is that the SP government worked for the development of UP...this has not gone down well with the Opposition, which is fast losing its mass base,'' he said while addressing a Pasi Samaj mahasammelan here today.

Seeking the support of the community, he called for a ''decisive battle'' to the frustrate Opposition's game plan.

Targetting the BSP and Congress, he said while the former did not have any political ideology, the latter was a party of the ''elite and had nothing to do with the cause of the poor.'' SP general secretary and UP Development Council chairman Amar Singh criticised the Congress and Governor T V Rajeswar for their alleged move to impose President's Rule in the state, saying the Supreme Court, High Court, President A P J Abdul Kalam, assembly speaker and the Election Commission had never made any adverse comments on the constitution of the state government.
