Child's body recovered from canal

Sangrur, Feb 22 (UNI) The body of a male child, wrapped in a sack, was recovered from a canal at Phummansingh village in this district today.

The body of the boy, aged about 12 years, was found in the sack with his arms and legs tied with rope and mouth gagged, police said.

The body was spotted by the local residents who informed the police about it, Sangrur DSP Balbir Singh Khaira said.

Meanwhile, doctors said the boy seemed to have died of strangulation not too long ago.

A case was registered in this connection at the Bhawanigarh police station.
