Bengali film director Anjan Chowdhury passes away

Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) Noted Bengali filmmaker Anjan Chowdhury died at a city nursing home here last night.

He was 63 and is survived by his wife, son and two daughters.

The Bengali film director was admitted to the B M Birla Heart Research Institute early this month after a cardiac arrest, and was put on life support system.

Chowdhury was one of the most reputed directors of the regional film industry since the eighties. ''Shatru'' and ''Mukhyamantri'' are among the most memorable films he has made during his career.

He also ran an acting school here.
