Advocate held for travelling ticketless in suburban train

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) An advocate of Madras High Court was caught travelling without a ticket in a suburban train.

Police said advocate Sivakumar, who was travelling to Tambaram boarded into the train at Egmore Railway station without purchasing a ticket. He was caught by the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) when he alighted the train at Guindy Railway station and failed to produce his ticket.

The advocate picked up a quarrel with the TTE by saying that hundreds of people were travelling daily without buying a ticket and tried to justify his wrong deed.

As tension prevailed, the TTE took the advocate to the Station Master Uma, who in turn handed him over to Railway Protection Force (RPF) at St Thomas Mount for further action.

Though the RPF later let the advocate go after advising him not to travel ticketless hereafter, the advocate lodged a complaint with the Guindy police station against the station master and the RPF personnel, charging that he was abused by the Guindy Station Master and the RPF, police added.
