Jammu to increase Police force

Jammu, Feb 20: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the union government has accepted a proposal to raise additional 15 battalions of state police to tackle the internal security problems of the state out of which recruitment for four battalions is in progress.

Mr Azad said at the moment the state police is not in a position to tackle the militancy problem without the help of the armed forces but with an additional 15 battalions it will be able to deal with militancy as well as law and order in Kashmir.

He said a network of industrial training institutes and professional training schools has been established. The measures to supplement the government activities through effective persons also help in reducing the graph of unemployment, PSC and SSRB were geared up,'' he added.

''Similarly, maximum employment opportunities were created through various self-employment programmes. The center has also agreed our proposal of creating 15 battalions of police out of which recruitment for fur battalions is in progress,'' he informed.
