Policeman, 2 criminals killed in encounter

Jhansi, Feb 21 (UNI) A police constable was killed, while two criminals were killed in an encounter under Sipri area here today.

Reports said an inidentified individual had put stones on Bharari road near a railway crossing to intercept unsuspecting motorists and rob them.

When a police patrol members tried to clear the path, some armed men allegedly fired upon them, in which constable Balvir Singh sustained grievous wounds.

The cops also returned the fire and killed the two one of whom was later identified as Awdhesh Dheemar.

The wounded policeman succumbed on the way to hospital.

Police recovered a stolen government pistol, two guns and live cartridges from the spot.
