Oppn leader urges for holding Chairman's election
Bangalore, Feb 21 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today urged the State Government to hold election to the Council Chairman's post immediately in view of the ''message'' sent by Governor T N Chaturvedi to the Legislature Secretary directing to conduct the election.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said the message was clear and reflected the lapses on the part of the Government in delaying the election. The Government had no other alternative, but to show respect to the message.
He said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy should apologise to the people for not holding the election as per legal and constitutional provisions. ''I caution the Government that any delay in holding the election would amount to showing disrespect to the Constitution.'' UNI
