Mercury rises to 11 Degree C, fog envelops sky in the morning
New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) For the third time over the last one week, fog enveloped the Delhi skyline, plummeting visibility levels in the morning hours even as a bright Sunlight led to a rise in mercury in the capital.
Fog enveloped the skyline in the morning hours for the second consecutive day, and for the third time over the last one week.
The fog reduced visibility to 800m at about 0700 hours.
Low visibility procedures had to be put in force at 0735 hours when the Runway visual range (RVR) fell to 850m, an Airports Authority of India spokesperson said. The LVP was terminated at 0904 hours when the RVR improved to 1250m.
However, no flights were diverted, rescheduled or cancelled, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, a bright sunlight today led to a rise in minimum temperature to 11.0 Degree Celsius, from 10.2 Degree C yesetrday.
Weathermen said the mercury was likely to witness a further rise tomorrow to 12 Degree C.
There could be a drop in mercury towards the weekend with the weathermen forecasting scattered to fairly widespread rain or snowfall over the Western Himalayan region during the next 24 hours under the influence of a fresh Western disturbance.
The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with likelihood of the sky becoming partly cloudy by evening or night.
They have also forecast a slight fog or mist in the morning hours.
