Fire in Junagadh district collector's office, guts files, property

Junagadh, Feb 21 (UNI) A major fire broke out in the office of the District Collector early today, damaging property and reducing several important files to ashes.

According to the preliminary reports, the cause of fire is said to be because of a short circuit. However, no casualties were reported, official sources said.

The four-storeyed office also housed the offices of the Deputy Collector, Mid-day meal department, employment section, district and taluka panchayats etc.

Twelve fire tenders were pressed into service and it took over six hours to douse the fire.

District Collector Ashwini Kumar, IGP Mohan Kumar Jha, and other senior officials had rushed to the spot.
