Festival To Celebrate Sanskrit
New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Sanskrit plays and poetry are on the menu of a three day spring festival celebrating the ancient Indian language and literature.
The February 20-22 Vasantotsava organised by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan-- apex body to propagate and develop Sanskrit learning-- will conclude with a valedictory and prize function tomorrow evening.
The event will be presided over by Prof Sriniwas Rath, Vice Chairman, Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Partishthan, Ujjain, an official statement said today.
The plays being staged include Vikramorvsheeyam, Rajvaibhavam, Pratigyasvathamiyam, Raghudasasya Patram, Chanakyavijaya, Hasyachooramaniprahasanam, Balabharatam, Pancharatra, Prasannaraghavam and Swapanvasavadattam.
Also to be held are Kavi Sannidhyam and Vidvat Sannidhyam-- meet the poet and meet the scholar segments respectively.
Higher Education Advisor Sudeep Banerjee will be Chief Guest at the valedictory function to be attended also by Indira Gandhi National Open University Vice Chancellor V N Rajashekharan Pillai and Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan VC Vachaspati Upadhyaya.
The Sansthan imparts Sanskrit Education up to Doctorate Level through ten Campuses at Allahabad, Jammu, Puri, Guruvayoor, Jaipur, Lucknow, Sringeri, Garli, Bhopal and Mumbai.
