Duggal meets EC to discuss Uttar Pradesh polls

New Delhi, Feb 21: The Centre today conveyed to the Election Commission that it has made adequate security preparation to conduct peaceful assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Home Secretary V K Duggal met Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami to dicuss the details of the security requirements for polls in the state.

Mr Duggal gave details of the security forces to be available with the Centre after the completion of the assembly polls in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Punjab. The Commission conveyed the requirement of para military forces for conducting peaceful polls in the state.

Following the discussion, the two sides mutually agreed on the requirement of the security forces in the state. However, the details were not disclosed.
