Delhi CM meets Union Env Minister for clearance of Pragati project

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today called on Union Environment Minister A Raja and requested him to grant environmental clearance for the 1000 MW Pragati Power III at Bawana and the 350 MW Pragati-II Power Plant.

After detailed discussions, it was decided that due to the high Nitrus oxide level at ITO, the 350 MW Pragati Power Project would be shifted to Bawana and integrated with the 1000 MW Pragati Power Plant, thus making it a 1350 MW Power Plant.

Union Environment Minister A Raja assured Ms Dikshit that environment clearance for the 350 MW Pragati Power-II and the 100 MW Pragati Power-II would be issued within one week.

Ms Dikshit stressed on the need for early clearance of these two Power Projects to meet the growing power requirements of the city keeping in view the Commonwealth Games, increasing population and fast paced urbanisation.

Ms Dikshit was accompanied by Principal Secretary(Power) Rakesh Mehta and Environment Secretary J K Dadoo.

Union Environment Secretary Prodipto Ghosh was also present in the meeting.
