Woman raped by drunken police sub-inspector

Chitrakoot, Feb 20 (UNI) A woman was raped by a drunken police sub inspector (SI) with the help of his armed accomplices in the Manikpur area here.

ASP Ajay Kumar Sachdeva today said, the accused SI, Jitendra Nath, was posted in Nandigaon in Jalaun district.

Nath had arrived here yesterday in connection with a court case.

Last night, the trio -- in an inebriated state -- entered a house in Harijanpur village and criminally assaulted a woman inmate, while his armed aides held her family members captive.

After commiting the crime, the trio tried to escape, but were overpowered and thrashed by locals before being handed over to the police.

A case had been registered against the three, while the police superintendent has recommended termination of the SI's service.
