Veteran CPI-M Politbureau member Chittabrata Mazumdar expires

Kolkata, Feb 20 (UNI) Veteran CPI-M Politbureau member and CITU all India secretary Chittabrata Mazumdar died at a city nursing home here today. He was 71.

Mr Mazumdar is survived by his daughters.

Mr Mazumdar was admitted to the nursing home following an acute respiratory trouble. He was diagonised as suffering from pulmonary disease.

Nursing home sources said the ailing leader was put on ventillatory support after his condition turned critical last Thursday.

Sources said Mr Mazumdar was admitted to the nursing home on February one with respiratory problem caused by chronic obstruction in the lungs.

His end came at 1615 hours.

Left Front Chairman Biman Basu and other CPI-M leaders visited the nursing home after his death.
