Saddam paid tributes in MP Assembly

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) today paid glowing tributes to deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussain in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

While paying tributes to former Chief Minister S C Shukla and others in the Assembly, CPI-M member Ramlakhan Sharma recalled the ''hanging of Mr Saddam Hussain at the behest of the United States in its bid to have control over the oil deposits in Iraq'' and paid glowing tributes to the former President.

Mr Sharma and Dr Sunilam (Samajwadi Party) also paid tributes to those passengers of the Samjhouta Express, who perished in the explosions yesterday. Majority of the blast victims were Pakistani citizens returning to their country.

The Assembly adjourned its sitting till tomorrow as a mark of respect to the departed.
