New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) A Samajwadi Party delegation led by party General Secretary Amar Singh today urged President A P J Abdul Kalam not to dismiss the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh on the advice of the Centre.

The delegation, which included Jaya Bachchan, Ramgopal Yadav and Shahi Siddique (all MPs), submitted a memorandum to Dr Kalam, demanding the recall of Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar for acting at the behest of the Congress to oust the SP government in UP.

After the 30-minute meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr Singh said Dr Kalam gave a patient hearing to the delegation.

The Governor was consulting the Congress and the BSP instead of constitutional experts on the Supreme Court verdict disqualifying the dissident BSP MLAs.

The Supreme Court had not questioned the legitimacy of the UP government, so no one had the right to declare it illegal, Mr Singh said.

''The apex court has disqualified only the 13 MLAs, and has not said anything about the remaining 24, whose fate will be decided either by the Speaker or the Court, but not by the Congress and its friends,'' he said.
