Play teacher role for patients' families: Kalam asks nurses

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today asked nurses to play the role of the teacher for patients' families and take special care of at least 20 rural patients.

''We need good hearts to treat the ailing hearts, we need helping hands to remove the pain, and we need beautiful minds to give happiness to the patients,'' Dr Kalam said while inaugurating the 7th Asian Cardiac Nursing Conference here.

Dr Kalam advocated a six-point oath for the nursing community: ''I love my profession of nursing, the noble mission. I realize, removing the pain is the mission of God. I will treat all patients equally with kindness and care. I will take special care of at least 20 rural patients. I will be a life long learner in nursing. I will follow the motto -- Let my care, remove your pain and bring smiles.'' UNI
