Orissa vigilance detects Rs.15 crore tax evasion
Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (UNI) The Orissa vigilance department has detected tax evasion to the tune of Rs.15.25 crore during raids in various business premises in the state in January.
Vigilance sources said the sleuths conducted raids to different business houses in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Balasore divisions and detected tax evasion of sales tax to the tune of Rs.15.25 crore.
Besides, the State vigilance also realised Rs.44.16 lakh as casual tax on the spot. This apart the vigilance officers alongwith forest officials had detected 15 forest offence cases and seized timber and saw mill accessories valued at over Rs.6 lakh in Ganjam, Sundergarh, Balasore and Mayurbhanj Districts during the month.
