M P Assly pays tributes to Shukla

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly today paid glowing tributes to former Chief Minister Shyama Charan Shukla and others and adjourned its sitting till tomorrow as a mark of respect to the departed leaders.

The house also observed two minutes silence to mourn their death.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Mr Shukla, who died at Raipur a week ago, symbolised clean and value based politics. He never compromised on his principles and preferred to stay away from mainstream politics. Mr Shukla would be known for his keen interest in the state's development, particularly in spreading irrigation network, Mr Chouhan added.

As the house assembled for the day, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani read out the obituary reference and paid tributes to the departed leaders.

The house also paid tributes to former union minister Mrs Sukhbans Kaur, former Rajya Sabha member Mohammad Ali Ansari, former members Narhari Prasad Sharma, Mr Mahesh Dutt Mishra, Mr Ramesh Chandra Bargale, Mr Ramchandra Parteti and Mr Ram Prasad Ahirwar and spiritual leader Sant Hirdaram, who died during inter-session period.

Besides Mr Chouhan, leader of the opposition Jamuna Devi(Cong), Dr Sunilam(SP), Mr Ramlakhan Sharma(CPI-M), Ms Saroj Bachhan (JD-U), Mr Manmohan Shah Batti(GGP), Mr Hamid Kazi(NCP) and Mr Dharmu Rai(BJP) also joined in paying tributes.

Former Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, while paying tributes to Sant Hirdaram, said the Chief Minister had also agreed to officially name Bairagarh as Sant Hirdaram Nagar and a decision in this regard would be taken within a few days.

Mr Kapoor Chand Ghuwara(BJP) sought to include the name of former member Nathuram Ahirwar, who died recently, in paying tributes, but the Speaker did not respond.
