Home Ministry report ready on imposition of president's rule in UP
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Though the government is yet to take a decision on imposing President's rule in Uttar Pradesh, the Home Ministry has finalised a detailed report on the issue.
''We have finalised a detailed report giving the pros and cons of imposing President's Rule in Uttar Pradesh. However, the decision will be taken at the political level,''Home Ministry sources said here today.
The Ministry had earlier received a report from Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar recommending the imposition of President's rule in the state, following the Supreme Court decision disqualifying the breakaway group of 13 BSP MLAs supporting the Mulayam Singh government in the state.
The Congress party favours the imposition of the President's rule while its allies like RJD, LJP and DMK have supported it. The BJP has also come out in favour of the imposition of the President's rule in the state. However, the strong opposition by the Left Parties and the reported reluctance of President A P J Abdul Kalam to the move have proved a major deterrent for the imposition of President's rule in the state.
