HC examines Bina Ramani in FERA case

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) A Delhi Court today partly examined Bina Ramani in a FERA case pending against Nemichand Jain alias Chandraswami.

Enforcement department contended that Jain had acquired two lakh US dollars during 1980.

Jagdeo Mishra and Jagdish Prasad had transferred the same to Negi International of Bina Ramani and failed to offer it for sale in accordance with law and the accused and Nemichand Jain had invested 78,000 US dollars in New York in April 1980 and withdrew the investment in October 1982 and sent this amount to set off against property principally known as Donalds Avenue, Toronto, Canada acquired by Ernie Miller of Canada.

It was also disclosed that the accused had otherwise transferred an amount of 1,22,000 US dollars through his nominee Bina Ramani in violation of the provisions of FERA.

In this matter charges have already been framed by the court of the additional chief metropolitan magistrate and now the matter is on aftercharge evidence case.

A K Wali and N K Matta, counsel for the enforcement department examined Bina Ramani's case.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Kamini Lau ordered partial cross examination of Ramani tomorrow due to shortage of time.
