Bomb scare on Karnavati Express proves hoax

Surat, Feb 20 (UNI) A bomb scare on 2934 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Karnavati Express proved to be a hoax after the Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel conducted a thorough search of the train at the railway station here today.

Railway Police sources said the Railway Police control room in Vadodara had received an anonymous call this morning, saying that a bomb had been planted in the Mumbai-bound Karnavati Express.

The Vadodara control room immediately informed the matter to the Surat Railway Police, who stopped the train at the Surat station for emergency checking.

''The train, stopped on platform number 4, was immediately evacuated and a dog squad, bomb disposal squad and the RPF personnel checked the train thoroughly, but nothing was found on board the train,'' sources said, adding that the train left the Surat station at 1045 hrs, almost two hours behind its scheduled time.
