Two policemen injured in clashes, seven arrested

Krishnagar, Feb 19 (UNI) Two police personnel were injured in clashes between the police and Paschimbanga Krishi Jami Suraksha Samiti activists today in Bahadurpur village near here and eight people, including social activist Anuradha Talwar, were arrested in this connection.

Police said the agitators were staging a protest meeting against the Forest Department's preparation to set up a Forest Conservation Committee.

Police lathicharged the protestors when they stopped the Additional District Magistrate's vehicle and resorted to stone pelting. The two policemen were injured in the incident.

Unrest still prevails in the area, police added.
