Special Cell on site of Samjhauta Express fire

New Delhi, Feb 19: A team of Special Cell of the Delhi Police today left for the site of the blasts which occurred in the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express early this morning in which 64 people were killed and 13 injured.

The ten-member team, consisting of senior police officers, left for Diwana in Haryana, the site of the blasts that hit two coaches of the train this morning, sources said.

They said the team of police officials will carry out investigations at the site in order to ascertain how explosives made their way into the train - two IEDs and a briefcase were recovered from the blasts site.

Also accompanying the team was a bomb disposal squad to assist investigators.

A red alert has already been sounded in Delhi in view of the blasts with security tightened at all railway and Metro stations in Delhi in the wake of explosions on the Samjhauta Express.

The bi-weekly peace train, that connects India with Pakistan, had left the Delhi Railway Station at 2240 hrs last night for Attari near Amritsar.
