Take custody of security wing vehicle, magistrate to Kashmir police
Srinagar, Feb 19 (UNI) A local court today directed the Jammu and Kashmir police to take custody of a vehicle which was used for smuggling illegal timber by the security wing of the state police.
The 2nd Additional Munsif Judicial Magistrate's direction came on a case filed by the State Forest Corporation (SFC).
The Magistrate has directed the Parimpora police station to take into custody the vehicle which belongs to Security Wing of the J&K Police.
The vehicle was seized by locals at Ganderbal alongwith illegal timber in January. It was later handed over to Forest Protection Force (FPF).
It is being alleged that security force and police vehicles are being used to smuggle timber in the Kashmir valley.
Police have seized illegal timber worth lakhs of Rupees and arrested about a dozen smugglers in the valley during the past three months.
