Red alert in Delhi on the wake of train incident

New Delhi, Feb 19: A red alert has been sounded in Delhi following the fire on the Delhi-Attari special early this morning, with security measures being tightened at Railway and Metro stations in the capital.

Additional CISF personnel have been deployed at all the stations of the Delhi Metro following the incident, which left over 60 people dead and many others injured.

Also the movements of passengers on the stations were being carefully monitored through CCTV, a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.

Security has also been tightened at all the railway stations in the capital, including the New Delhi and the old Delhi Railway stations, Northern Railway sources said.

All passengers of the trains arriving at the stations were being checked. Additional police force have been deployed for the purpose.

Also, a number of policemen in plain clothes have been stationed at all the railway stations to keep an eye on movements of the people arriving and departing from there.

Additional security personnel have also been deployed at the railway stations at Ghaziabad and Faridabad on the outskirts of the city, the sources said.
