Natwar Singh to campaign for SP in UP polls
New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Former Foreign Minister Natwar Singh, suspended last year from the Congress for his alleged involvement in the Iraqi ''Oil for Food'' scam, today came out openly in support of the Samajwadi Party, announcing that he would campaign for it in the coming elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Singh, also a Rajya Sabha Member from the Congress, however, said he was not joining the Samajwadi Party at the moment.
''I am here as a suspended Congressman,'' he said addressing a news conference along with SP general secretary Amar Singh and SP MP film star Jaya Bachchan.
To the question as to why he was not resigning from Rajya Sabha seat, he said he was not doing so because if he vacated the seat, it would be won by the BJP.
Mr Singh also condemned the move to dismiss the Mulayam Singh government in the state.
