Mumbai, Feb 19 (UNI) Project affected persons (PAPs) in the Mumbai Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), a separate entity under the Reliance Group coming up in the Raigad district, will be paid a sum of Rs five lakh rupees per acre of land acquired from them.

A job after successful completion of training and two years sustenance payment for landless labourers, and compensation for land at market rates are also a part of the relief and rehabilitation (R&R) package for the PAPs.

Briefing reporters here today, an MSEZ spokesperson said, ''Apart from the rehabilitation package, we are also spending a sum of Rs 90 crore for upgradation of the infrastructure in 45 villages.'' He claimed that the rate offered by the MSEZ to the PAPs was 10 times more than the Ready Reckoner rates or the government-fixed rates. In case, the award of land finalised by the State government exceeds the compensation for the land offered by the company, the difference would be paid if agreements for sale under consent route have been executed. The company has already acquired land measuring 1,000 acres under the route.

Talking about the options to the PAPs, he said employment with a monthly income of Rs 4,000-5,000 will be assured, or the MSEZ will pay a one-time payment of three lakh rupees per project affected family in case training and employment option is not opted for.

As regards NMSEZ, the spokesman said that land measuring 1,600 hectares, out of total land of 4,000 hectares to be acquired for the project, has already been sanctioned by the government to CIDCO, which is the nodal agency for the project with a stake of 26 per cent. However the same was yet to be transferred to the project, he said.

The remaining part of the ownership for the project lies with a consortium led by Reliance Group.
