New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Merger of two Naxalite oufits, CPI(ML) and MCC-I, has been completed with their united party, christened as CPI (Maoists), at its ninth congress.
In the meeting, a resolution was adopted to support the nationality struggles, Dalits' uplift, besides opposing the Hindutva forces, castist oppression and women's inequality.
In the recently-concluded congress, which was held after 36 years since 8th congress in 1970, the party also annouced to oppose the setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and displacement of farmers, tribals and 'neo-liberal policies of development' adopted by the government.
The Maoists also decided to unite themselves with other like-minded parties to ''wage a broad-based militant mass movement against the policiies of globalizsation and privatisation pursued at the instance of imperialism'', party's resolutions released to the press here today said.
The party also elected its general secretary, Ganapathy, and affirmed to pursue the general line of ''new democratic revolution with agrarian thrust to be carried out through people's protracted struggle'' -- a political ideology which divided the communists in India in the late 1960s into main two groupings of those participating in elections and those taking to militant recourse.
The party documents pinpointed that the country ''retains fueldal/ semi-fueldal character which is deeply intervowen wih caste system and Brahminical ideology'' being exploited by foces and Hindutva for concentration of political power at the Centre and to subject the working class to supression.
The Maoists, mainly active in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar are of major worry for the Government which has taken several steps to contain their upsurge and their infilteration into various front organisations of employees and workers.
