Man behind medium is imp, PCI chairman tells photographers

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Chairman of Press Council Of India, Justice G N Ray today urged photographers and technicians to apply their own creativity in their productions.

''It is the man behind the medium who uses the equipment with his artistic temperament and vision,'' he said while inaugurating a five-day Workshop on digital photography named 'Media Communication, the role of Digital Photography and Digital Management of Visual Images'.

Justice Ray lauded the role of the Photo Division in digitising their archives having more than ten lakh images which have been made available online.

The representative of the Department of Information and Public Relation of the States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Orissa, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Tripura, Mizoram and Union Territories like A& N Islands and Puducherry are the major participants in the workshop being organised by Photo Division, Ministry of Information&Broadcasting.

In addition, the representatives of the Central Government organisations involved in digital photography work like the Central Bureau of Investigation, DPR, Ministry of Defence, National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Sciences are also taking part in the Workshop.

Director, Photo Division, Debatosh Sengupta, in his address said photography played a very important role in human endeavour as it was the most significant and faithful document made for posterity.
