Lalu-Rabri's acquittal challenged in appellate court

Patna, Feb 19(UNI) The Bihar government today filed an appeal in Patna High Court against the acquittal of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi, former Bihar Chief Minister by the CBI special court in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

The CBI special court of Patna had acquitted Mr Prasad and Rabri Devi in this case on December 18 last.

In the petition, the state government pointed out that the acquittal by the CBI court was ''perverse'' and the court did not take note of the evidence produced before it by the investigating agency.

The order of the Income Tax appellate tribunal passed earlier in this case was not binding to the CBI court while disposing off the petition pending before it, the petition maintained.
