K'taka MLA Gurupadappa seeks Z plus category protection

Bangalore, Feb 19 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister and Congress Legislator Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli today sought Z plus category protection for himself and Y plus for his family members in view of the fatal attack on his son on February two.

Releasing to the media copies of letters written to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, the Director General of Police and the City Police Commissioner here, he said that if the security, provided to his family members, had been continued, his son would not have been killed by miscreants. Security provided at his residence here had also been withdrawn, he pointed out.

Mr Nagamarapalli said he needed security immediately as he had been serving various cooperative institutions both in the State and national levels and his family members had received threatening calls from naxalites in the past.

His son Vijaykumar Nagamarapalli was hacked to death by a group of miscreants in Bidar on February two last in connection with a land dispute. The State Government had ordered an inquiry by the Corps of Detectives into the incident.
