Kerala CM takes ride in Delhi Metro

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI)Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government would deal firmly with the opposition to the Metro rail project in Kochi, the work on which would be completed in four years.

Mr Achuthanandan performed an hour-long journey in the Delhi Metro rail system along with DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan.

He readily obliged when he was asked to travel for a while in the driver's cabin.

Talking to newsmen later at the Central Secretariat station, he said the mode of management of the Kochi Metro would be decided after examining all options.

Asked about the opposition from a section to the proposed Metro project in Kochi, he said :"Kerala will never allow to miss any intellectual advancement of the world that would make the human life more comfortable." Replying to a question, he said the proposed suburban train service at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode was high on the agenda of the government and discussions were on with the railway authorities in this regard.
