Kalam to inaugurate international seminar on security on Feb 22

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate an international seminar on security in South Asia on February 22.

The two-day seminar, to be hosted by the India Army, will be attended by security analysts from 30 countries, including those from the US, the UK, Russia, Germany, China and Sri Lanka.

Participants from Australia, China, Japan, Sri Lanka and Turkey would present papers at the seminar, 'Emerging World Order: Implications for the Security Calculus of the extended South Asian Region', to be organised by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS).

Defence Minister A K Antony, Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar and Army Chief Gen J J Singh will be the guests of honour.

A large number of delegates, comprising serving and retired civil and military officers, ex chiefs, security analysts, ambassadors and high commissioners, defence attaches and academicians would attend the seminar.

Representation would also be from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Tajikistan, Botswana, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil, Chile, France and Germany, an official release here today said.
