Indian flight makes emergency landing due to snag

Chennai, Feb 19: An Indian flight which left for Mumbai with 161 passengers on board made an emergency landing at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here last night after one of its engines developed technical snag midair.

Airport sources said the flight left for Mumbai around 2200 hrs and soon the pilot contacted air traffic control (ATC), after the snag came to the notice.

The ATC permitted the flight to land after taking all safety measures on the ground.

The flight landed safely around 2235 hrs and the passengers were asked to alight.

The Indian officials told the passengers the Mumbai flight would be ready by 0700 hrs this morning and till then, they can stay at various hotels in the city arranged by them.

Despite the assurance, the passengers got agitated and wanted to leave for Mumbai the same night.

Following this, Indian authorities made available another aircraft which came from Singapore. The flight took off to Mumbai at 0300 hrs.
