High alert in Delhi, security heightened at Rly stations, metro
New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Security was tightened at Railway stations and Metro stations in Delhi in wake of the blasts on the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express train early this morning which left at least 64 people dead and many others injured.
Heightened security measures were put in place at all the railway stations in the capital, a Northern Railway spokesperson said.
As part of the heightened security, additional personnel of the Ralway Protection Force had been deployed at all the stations, the spokesperson said.
CCTV cameras had been installed at all the major railway stations, including New Delhi and the old Delhi Railway stations, to monitor the activities of those arriving at the stations and departing from there.
Further security measures included stationing dog squads to check for any suspicious object, increasing the number of metal detectors for drisking on the passengers and increasing patrolling in and around the railway stations, the spokesperson said.
Besides, a number of policemen in plain clothes have been stationed at all the railway stations to keep eye on movements of people.
Additional security personnel have also been deployed at the railway stations at Ghaziabad and Faridabad on the outskirts of the city, the spokesperson said.
Security measures were also tightened at all the stations of the Delhi Metro following the blasts on the Samjhauta Express, a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.
Additional CISF personnel have been deployed at all the stations following the incident.
The movements of passengers on the stations were being carefully monitored through CCTV, the spokesperson said.
