Ranchi, Feb 19 (UNI) With the disputes involving the era of historical Rajbanshi dynasty plaguing the historians, the Jharkhand government has inititated archeological survey to arrive at a conclusion.

According to historians, the Rajbanshi rulers who expanded their territory at places like modern Ranchi, Gumla and Simdega had settled either during first century AD or between fifth or sixth century AD.

A Cultural Department team headed by Deputy Director Harendra Singh yesterday visited Khukhra, the old capital of the dynasty, about 40 km from here for a study.

The team assisted by some more experts on the subject would visit Navratnagarh, another place of the Rajbangshis, in the next few weeks, Mr Singh told UNI here today.

He said the team found many archeological remains near Murhara Pahari at Khukhra adding more study was required on it.

Mr Singh said he had information that more than 12 gold coins dating back to the dynasty had been recovered during undivided Bihar, which were later sent to Patna museum.

'' We need to study the coins as well'', he said.

'' Our effort is not to take sides of any historians but to gather information on the important dynasty and come to a permanent solution,'' he added.

The government would seek assistance from the Archeological Survey of India on the issue.
