New Delhi, Feb 19: Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehra Dun for joint marketing of Natural Gas Liquid to Gas and Gasoline (NTGG).

The IIP, a constituent laboratory of CSIR, has formalised a joint technology ownership and will facilitate the commercialisation of the technology together.

''A patent application for equal Intellectual Property Rights was filed in 2001 and the grant of patent will follow soon,'' GAIL said in a note to BSE today.

The NTGG technology enables the conversion of natural gas liquid (NGL) to gas and gasolene products. The company said that further experimentation is on to modify the technology to produce LPG and naphtha or higher amount of aromatics as end products.

''Some of the reputed national and international organisations have expressed their interests for setting up a commercial plant using this technology,'' the company added.
