Five narcotic dealers get 14 years RI

Fatehabad, Feb 19 (UNI) A local court here today sentenced five narcotic dealers, including four brothers, to rigorous imprisonment of 14 years and fine of Rs 1.50 lakhs each in a case of poppy husk trafficking.

The accused will have to undergo a further imprisonment of 2 years each in case of their failure to pay the fine.

Acting on a tip off, the police had nabbed Hans Raj, Devi Lal, Narsi Ram and Ramji Lal, all sons of Banwari Lal of Haroli village near Rattia in this district and their accomplice Manjit Singh on August 18, 2000, while they were unloading a consignment of poppy husk at a Dhani near their village.

The police had recovered 94 bags of poppy husk from their possession.

The police had booked the accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
