Father arrested in rape case in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 19: Mizoram police arrested the founder and father of Gennesaret Gospel Home in Champhai along Indo-Myanmar border for allegedly raping the inmatesof the home.

According to police, the father was arrested after the Board of Control for Supervision and Control of Other Charitable Homes in State (BCSCOCHS) had logded a complain.

Police further said the father used to sexually abuse the orphan children of Mizo-Myanmarese parents.

At least two rape charges and five attempted molestation were reported aganist the father, police added.

The Home, which was established in 1999, currently houses 98 destitute children of female sex workers and drug addicts.
