Election deferred after Cong candidate dies in accident

Dehra Dun, Feb 19 (UNI) The Assembly election for Bajpur constituency in Uddhamsingh Nagar district has been deferred following the death of Congress candidate Janakraj Sharma in a road accident.

According to police sources, Mr Sharma died on the spot when his car collided with a tractor trolley, standing at a bend, and overturned at Kelakheda village the previous night. He was on his way back to Bajpur after a polling campaign. His driver and the gunner were seriously injured in the accident and admitted to Bajpur hospital. Their condition is said to be critical.

Uddhamsingh Nagar District Magistrate and District Election Officer have issued orders to defer election for Bajpur constituency.
